SBI PO Selection Process 2025

The selection process for Probationary Officers consists of three phases:

Phase-I: Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Examination is an objective test for 100 marks, conducted online. The structure of the test is as follows:

Selection Criteria for Main Examination:

  • A category-wise merit list will be prepared based on the aggregate marks scored in the Preliminary Examination.
  • There is no sectional cutoff in the Preliminary Examination.
  • Approximately 10 times the number of vacancies in each category will be shortlisted for the Main Examination from the top of the merit list.

Phase-II: Main Examination

The Main Examination is conducted online and comprises two parts:

1. Objective Test: 200 marks

2. Descriptive Test: 50 marks

The Descriptive Test is administered immediately after the Objective Test, and candidates must type their answers on the computer.

Sectional Cut-off/Minimum Qualifying Marks in Main Examination:

  • Candidates must score a minimum qualifying mark in each test (Objective and Descriptive) individually.
  • Cut-off will be decided based on the number of available vacancies. Candidates will be shortlisted for Phase-III from the top of the merit list, provided they meet the minimum qualifying score.

Phase-III: Psychometric Test, Group Exercise, and Interview

The final phase comprises three components:

  • Psychometric Test: Personality profiling for shortlisted candidates. Findings may be presented to the Interview panel.
  • Group Exercise: Maximum Marks: 20
  • Personal Interview: Maximum Marks: 30

Final Selection

  • Candidates must qualify in both Phase-II and Phase-III separately.
  • Marks obtained in the Main Examination (Objective and Descriptive) and Phase-III will be combined to prepare the final merit list.
  • Marks from the Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) will not contribute to the final merit list.
